Sweet Sixteen at Antonio's, Tagaytay

The big k and I just came home from a wonderful lunch at Antonio's Restaurant in Tagaytay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. While last month's Hong Kong trip was our pre-anniversary celebration, today was the real thing. Sweet sixteen!

The last time we were at Antonio's was when they were newly opened. That was ages ago! Still, the big K and I remember the pleasurable experience we had. Good food, good service. So, we decided to go back.
At the restaurant's foyer one is greeted by the bright red wall filled with old photographs and a Klimt-inspired painting.
I love how the plants have grown so much lusher from the last time we were here.
The restaurant's main dining room. The big K and I were seated by the balcony just like the last time.
Their wheat bread was so tasty the big K asked for another serving. I, meanwhile, was admiring the flower-shaped butter. I know, such simple joys!
Freshly squeezed dalandan juice.
First up, the salad. I had the Aragula salad with sun-dried tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese and glazed walnuts sprinkled with balsamic reduction.
While the big K had the Pear aragula salad with pan-seared foie gras.
We were then served the soup of the day, kohlrabi soup with pancetta. We weren't really sure if we got the name right but whatever it was it was good.
A refreshing mandarin orange sorbet came next to clear our palates to prepare us for the main entree.
For the big K, crispy deboned lamb ribs on garlic egg noodles with hoisin sauce. The lamb was delicately flavoured and tenderly crispy.
I had the grilled shinook salmon on tagliatelle. The salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned but the pasta was a bit too al dente for me.
Now we come to my favorite part of the meal, dessert! Dark chocolate soufflĂ© with cardamon creme anglaise for me. Now, soufflĂ© is very difficult to make but as you can see from the picture Antonio's did it parfaitement! Bravo!
It was the grilled sugar cinnamon pineapple with toffee cinnamon and virgin coconut ice cream for the big K. I didn't get to taste it but the big K wasn't too happy with his choice. But then came a surprise that made up for the average tasting pineapple dessert.
Surprise treat from Antonio's! We forgot to ask what it was exactly but it was a chocolate cake in a caramel cream-like sauce. It was very good! Perfectly paired with brewed coffee and tea.
By the time we were done with lunch it was nearing three in the afternoon. Talk about a long, leisurely lunch! Full and satisfied it was time for us to head back home. But one last stop before we go.....
The little girls room.
And in case you get lonely......
I just had to take a picture of my red shoes standing out from the black and white tiles.
Antonio's is located at Purok 138, Barangay Neogan, Tagaytay City, Cavite. They are open for lunch and dinner Tuesdays to Sundays. A reservation is a must.
